Kapil Sibal Urges Supreme Court to Act in Lakhimpur Violence Case

New Delhi, 6th Oct. Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal has urged the Supreme Court to take action on the Lakhimpur Kheri. In a tweet, Sibal said, “There was a time when there was no YouTube, no social media, the Supreme Court used to take suo moto cognizance on the basis of reports in print media. It heard the voices of the voiceless.” He demanded that the court should take action regarding this matter also.

He said that today when our citizens are being run over and killed, the Supreme Court is requested to take action. Four of the eight people killed in Sunday’s violence in Lakhimpur were farmers, who were allegedly rammed by vehicles driven by BJP workers at an event in the area to welcome Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said that the Uttar Pradesh Police has registered a case against Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, but no arrest has been made so far.
