PM Modi Inaugurates the Theme ‘New Urban India’, Handed Over House Keys to 75,000 Beneficiaries of Central Housing Scheme

Lucknow, 5th Oct. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Lucknow today. The PM has handed over the keys of houses to 75 thousand beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the theme ‘New Urban India’ on the occasion of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

PM Modi started the three-day program organized under the joint aegis of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Urban Development Department, Uttar Pradesh. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have also participated in the program organized on the theme ‘New Urban India’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally handed over the keys of houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) to 75,000 beneficiaries in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi interacted with the beneficiaries who have got houses under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally released a coffee table book containing 75 success stories of 10 smart cities of Uttar Pradesh. He also inaugurated/laid 75 development projects worth Rs 4,737 crore in Smart City Mission and AMRUT Mission.

PM Modi flagged off 75 smart electric low floor buses for Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad and Varanasi. Smart card and digital payment systems have been arranged in this.

PM Modi said, I am happy that in the houses being given under PM Awas Yojana in the country, more than 80 percent of the houses are owned by women or they are joint owners. Lucknow has given a visionary in the form of Atal ji to the nation dedicated to Mother Bharati. Today, in his memory, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chair is being established in Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University.

Since 2014, our government has approved the construction of more than 1 crore 13 lakh houses in cities under PM Awas Yojana. Out of this, more than 50 lakh houses have been built and handed over to the poor. Before 2014, the government had approved only 13 lakh urban houses. Out of this, only 8 lakh were made.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, under the leadership of Prime Minister at the center, the pace of urban development of the country is continuously increasing. In the conclave starting today, new dimensions of urban development will come before us and will contribute to the transformation across the country.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, at the time of independence in 1947, the population of our cities was about 6 crores, in 2030 this population is going to be 60 crores. I am confident that our central plans will play an important role to become a $10 trillion economy by 2030.

Before that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow and visited the exhibition on modern housing technologies here. During this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and CM Yogi Adityanath were also present with him.
