Mumbai, 26th Oct. After the ruckus in the name of Sameer Wankhede, director of the Mumbai Regional Unit of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Aryan Khan Drug Case, his father has come to the fore. Sameer’s father on Monday said that his name is Gyandev and not Dawood, as claimed by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik.

He said that his son is like Abhimanyu of ‘Mahabharata’, surrounded by enemies, but he will come out of this ‘Chakravyuh’ like Arjuna. Hitting back at Malik, Sameer’s father said that the NCP leader is doing very low level politics. Malik has claimed that Sameer Wankhede is a Muslim by birth and his real name is ‘Sameer Dawood Wankhede’.

He said, “It is absolutely false that my name is Dawood Wankhede. I think Malik has some malicious intention behind issuing that birth certificate of Sameer Wankhede and defaming us. My name is Gyandev Wankhede since birth and it is the same even today.

I completed my graduation and post graduation and even worked in a state government department. How is it possible that none of them know that my name is Dawood, not Gyandev? How did Malik alone get the suspicious document?’

Earlier in the day, Sameer Wankhede had denied allegations of forged documents including Malik’s birth certificate, saying that his father’s name is Gyandev, who was an excise officer.

Wankhede’s father claimed, “My wife died six years ago. She once prepared an affidavit in which it was mentioned that my name is Gyandev Wankhede. I also have a valid caste certificate. And not only me, my relatives also have similar documents to prove it.

When asked about the allegations of payment made by an NCB witness, he said that if Sameer Wankhede wanted a bribe from Shah Rukh Khan, he would have asked the actor to deliver it at home. “He would not have arrested his (Shah Rukh Khan’s) son (Aryan Khan) and then demanded it.

Prabhakar Sail, an ‘independent witness’ in the case, on Sunday claimed that an NCB official and allegedly absconding witness KP Gosavi, among others, demanded Rs 25 crore to release Aryan Khan.
