The Education Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, criticized the illegal Bangladeshi emigrants who have intruded the State of Assam, said that, he does not want to get voted as a MLA on the votes of people who are working to garble the Assamese culture and language.
He then waded into the discussion on CAA and NRC, and said,he does not want vote of those people who openly challenge the Indian and Assamese culture.
BJP leader further added, they are involved in various activities to distort the Assamese culture and language. So, I don’t want to be MLA with their votes. My personal opinion is that the people who openly challenge the Assamese culture, language and the composite Indian culture shouldn’t vote for us”.
Sarma said while talking to the media that a unit of the immigrant Muslim population in the north-eastern state was communal and works to distort the local culture and language.
“Assam’s Muslim population is divided into two streams – one who have come to Assam from Bangladesh and the other who are indigenous. Some people who had come to Assam at different point of time have started to identify themselves as Miya and they are very communal,” said the minister.
