Voting for First Phase of Assembly Elections in West Bengal is Going on for 30 Assembly Seats

Voting is going on in 30 assembly seats of the first phase of assembly elections in West Bengal. In this phase, more than 73 lakh voters will decide the fate of 191 candidates.

According to the Election Commission, the turnout was 7.72 percent till 9 am. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi and Mamata Banerjee appealed to the people for a record turnout. BJP President JP Nadda appealed to people to vote while protecting against corona virus.

Elections are being held in 30 of the 294 seats in Bengal. There are 191 candidates in the fray. It has 21 women. In Bengal, 73,80,942 voters will vote in the first phase. This includes 37,52,938 males and 36,27,949 females.

10,288 polling booths have been set up in Bengal for the first phase. In Bengal, 92 Central Police Companies have been deployed at Bankura, 169 East Medinipur, 139 West Medinipur, 186 Purulia and 144 Jhargram.

Meanwhile, reports of violent clashes have started coming from Bengal.
